Antigone er en slekt i underfamilien egentlige traner (Gruinae), som er en av to underfamilier i tranefamilien (Gruidae). Den andre er krontraner (Balearica). Slekten inkluderer fire arter med elleve taxa.

Taksonomi rediger

Artene i Antigone har tidvis blitt regnet til andre slekter, spesielt Grus, men «HBW and BirdLife International Illustrated Checklist of the Birds of the World» plasser artene i Antigone, i henhold til del Hoyo et al. (2014).[1] Noen velger imidlertid fortsatt å plassere disse som basale arter i slekten Grus, men slekten blir da i henhold til Krajewski et al. (2010) parafyletisk.[2]

Artene i Antigone skiller seg fra Grus gjennom at nesten hele hodet og nakken på fuglene har bar hud; baknakken, ansikt og kinnene er dekket av røff kornet hud.

Inndeling rediger

Inndelingene under følger henholdsvis HBW Alive, TiF og Clementslista, og viser at det ikke er full enighet om hele tranefamilien, men artene som sådan aksepteres av de fleste.

Norske navn følger Norsk navnekomité for fugl og er i henhold til Syvertsen et al. (2008).[3]
