Historie rediger
Scottsburg ble grunnlagt i 1871.[3] Byen har fått sett navn etter Horace Scott, en jernbanefunksjonær.[4] Et postkontor har vært i drift i Scottsburg siden 1873.[5]
Scott County Home, Scottsburg Courthouse Square Historic District og Scottsburg Depot er oppført i National Register of Historic Places.

Klimaet i dette området er karakterisert av varmt, fuktig sommervær og kaldt midtvest vintervær. Ifølge Köppens klimaklassifiseringssystem har Scottsburg et fuktig subtropisk klima, forkortet "Cfa" på klimakart.[6]
