Linah Mohohlo
Linah K. Mohohlo (født 13. februar 1952 i Ramotswa i Protektoratet Bechuanaland, død 1. juni 2021 i Gaborone i Botswana) var en botswansk økonom som fra 1999 til 2016 var sentralbanksjef i Botswanas bank, sentralbanken i Botswana.[2]

Bakgrunn rediger
Moholo ble født og vokste opp i Ramotswa i distriktet South-East i Botswana. Hun tok utdannelse innen regnskap, økonomi og finans ved University of Botswana, George Washington University og University of Exeter, og studerte i tillegg ledelse (executive management) ved Yale University. Hun skrev flere artikler og bøker innen økonomi, finans, valutastyring og ledelse.
Karriere rediger
Mohohlo ble utnevnt til sentralbanksjef i 1999, etter å ha jobbet i sentralbanken i 23 år. Innenfor sentralbanken arbeidet hun i flere avdelinger, blant annet styrets sekretariat, personalavdelingen, forskningsavdelingen og avdelingen for finansmarkedene.
I tillegg arbeidet hun blant annet for Det internasjonale pengefondet (IMF), der hun blant annet var «governor» for Botswana, og hun representerte 21 av Afrikas land i Group 1 Constituency i IMFs International Monetary and Financial Committee fra 2000 til 2002. Både i og utenfor Botswana hadde hun mange verv. FNs generalsekretær Kofi Annan brukte henne til å overvåke evalueringen av FNs «New Agenda» for utvikling i Afrika, og Storbritannias statsminister utnevnte henne til å jobbe i Afrikakommisjonen (Blair Commission for Africa), som jobbet med Afrikas fattigdom. Denne kommisjonen utga rapporten «Our Common Interest» i 2005.
Hun var også medlem av Africa Progress Panel, Gates Foundation «Financial Services for the Poor», og bestyrer for «Investment Climate Facility for Africa». Hun satt også i FN-ansattes pensjonsfond (United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund) med investeringsfond. I mai 2011 var hun med og arrangerte World Economic Forum i Cape Town, og i 2010 ledet hun «Global Agenda Council on Poverty and Development Finance» i World Economic Forum.
Da hun gikk av som sentralbanksjef 20. oktober 2016 overtok Moses Dinekere Pelaelo denne stillingen.[2][3]
Død rediger
Hun døde 2. juni 2021 av covid-19 i Gaborone, i en alder av 69 år.[4]
