En etniskreligiøs gruppe er en etnisk gruppe hvis medlemmer også er forent av en felles religiøs bakgrunn. Etniskreligiøse samfunn definerer ikke sin etniske identitet hverken gjennom herkomst eller religiøs tilknytning men ofte gjennom en kombinasjon av begge.[trenger referanse] En etniskreligiøs gruppe har en felles historie og kulturell tradisjon; noen av disse gruppenes identiteter forsterkes av opplevelsen av å bo innad i et større samfunn som en særegen minoritet.[trenger referanse]

Noen eksempler på etniskreligiøse grupper er: oldtidens assyrere, armenere, sikher, drusere, koptere, jesidier, shabaker, zoroastrere, mandeere, alawitter, zaza, lurere, kaka'i, hugenotter, jøder (hebreere), serere, mennonitter, hutteritter og amish.

I en etniskreligiøs gruppe vektlegges særlig religiøs endogami, og dermed fraråding av tverr-religiøst giftemål eller samleie, for å bevare samfunnets og kulturens stabilitet og historiske holdbarhet. Denne etterlevelsen av religiøs endogami kan også, i visse tilfeller, knyttes til etnisk nasjonalisme hvis den etniskreligiøse gruppen innehaver en historiske base i en spesifikk region.[1]
