Violeta er en variant av det engelske navnet Violet, som er dannet av latinske viola, «fiol».

Violetta (russisk: Виолетта) er en italiensk form av navnet, og Violette en fransk form.

Viola er en form av navnet tatt direkte fra latinske viola. Fjóla er en færøysk og islandsk form.
