Single system image

Single system image (SSI) er et begrep innen distribuert databehandling hvor en dataklynge opptrer som et enkelt system.[1][2] Det er ofte brukt synonymt med distribuerte operativsystemer,[3][4] men kan presentere mer avgrensede hensikter som for eksempel jobbskedulering som kan bli oppnådd med programvare som kjører på hvert enkelt nav i et konvensjonelt operativsystem.[5]

SSI-systemer kan gi en mer eller mindre fullkommen illusjon av et enkelt system, som er enklere å bruke og administrere.
