Hino Nacional Brasileiro

Brasils nasjonalsang (portugisisk: Hino Nacional Brasileiro) ble komponert av Francisco Manoel da Silva i forbindelse med selvstendigheten fra Portugal i 1822. Originalkomposisjonen har imidlertid blitt modifisert i ettertid. Melodien ble benyttet uten tekst. Etter at Brasil i 1889 ble republikk, ble komposisjonen offisielt vedtatt som nasjonalsang i 1890.

Hino Nacional Brasileiro på Commons

Sangteksten ble til i 1909, da Joaquim Osório Duque Estrada skrev en tekst som skulle følge musikken til da Silva. Denne teksten ble offisielt vedtatt i 1922. Åpningsordene betyr «Ouviram do Ipiranga as margens plácidas» betyr på «Ipirangas fredfulle bredder lød ropet».

Den første sangen som ble brukt var Hino da Independência som var komponert av den første keiseren, Pedro I.
