The specification isthat each car shall be equipped with brakes sufficiently powerfulto make stop from 20 km. per hour in 20 m., the rail being dry.The General Omnibus Co. placed five brakes on each of its electricvehicles, of- which three could be worked by the driver and theothers by the conductor in the rear of the vehicle. The driverworked, first, a compressed air brake; second, a reversing brake,and third, a hand brake.
