Theatres areopen now six nights in the week, but are actors paid for five nightsonly? Why should they imagine that an extension of time willmean no extension of salary ? The suggestion of the actors is, to my thinking, the flattestinsult they could throw in the faces of their managers. They sayin effect to those managers, You only want to keep your theatresopen for seven nig its because you wish to sweat our labour. Ifmanagers offered a salary and a half for Sunday night the pro^fession would be carrying banners round Trilalgar Squaredemanding Sunday opei ing !
