English: The arms of Valbert were granted on October 27, 1935.
„The arms show the bar taken from the arms of the Counts of the Mark, and the cross of the State and Bishops of Köln, who both ruled the area in the historical times. The upper half shows a hunter, which refers to the hunting rights obtained in 1525 by the villagers of Valbert. The village at the time was a border village between the Mark and Köln and the villagers defended their homes against the Archbishops of Köln. In gratitude the the Count of the Mark granted the hunting rights. "
Deutsch: „Das Wappen der ehemaligen Gemeinde Valbert ist geteilt in Gold (Gelb) und Silber (Weiß); oben ein wachsender grüngekleideter bärtiger Jäger mit grünen Hut und Bürstel in der rechten ein silbernes (weißes) Jagdhorn; unten über einem schwarzen durchgehenden Kreuz im Schildfuß ein dreireihig achtmal von Rot und Silber (Weiß) geschachter Balken.“ Das von Otto Hupp gestaltete Wappen zeigt die Symbole der ehemaligen Landesherren Grafschaft Mark (Schachbalken) und Kurfürstentum Köln (Kreuz). Der Jäger steht als Zeichen des Schutzes der Gemeinde, welche wegen ihrer früheren Grenzlage zwischen dem kurkölnischen Herzogtum Westfalen und der Grafschaft Mark ständig bedroht war. |
