Otomangueanske språk
Otomangueanske språk er en stor språkfamilie som omfatter en rekke mesoamerikanske språk i Amerika. Alle de nålevende otomangueanske språka snakkes i Mexico, men det ble tidligere snakka språk fra denne språkfamilien så langt sør som i Costa Rica. Det største antallet talere av otomangueanske språk har i dag den meksikanske delstaten Oaxaca, hvor talerne av zapotekisk og mixtekisk til sammen utgjør nesten 1,5 millioner. Andre otomangueanske språk er otomi og mazahua.

Alle otomangueanske språk er tonespråk. Noen har bare to forskjellige toner, mens andre har opptil fem. Mange av språka har også fonemisk vokalnasalisering.
