English: The Intel 8080 8-bit microprocessor was announced in April 1974. This introductory advertisement is from the May 2, 1974 issue of Electronics magazine (published on April 26, 1974). This advertisement also ran in the April 15, 1974 issue of Electronic News.

The 8080's design engineers, Masatoshi Shima and Federico Faggin, wrote an article about the new microprocessor in the April 18, 1974 issue of Electronics magazine (published on April 12, 1974).
Electronic News was a weekly trade newspaper and the cover date matched the publication date. Electronics magazine was published every two weeks with a Thursday cover date, the publication date was the previous Friday. Publication dates are from the copyright registrations.
