«Прямоугольное двухстороннее полотнище с отношением ширины к длине 2:3, воспроизводящее фигуры герба города Шимановска, выполненные зелёным, красным, жёлтым и белым цветом».

Описание герба города Шимановска:

«В зелёном и червлёном поле, разделённом пониженным серебряным поясом, поверх пояса — золотой обод зубчатого колеса и внутри него — серебряные молоты накрест, один — узким бойком наружу, другой — с двумя широкими бойками, и золотой камень (о четырёх острых и четырёх округлых углах попеременно) поверх их скрещения; во главе всё сопровождено тремя серебряными звездами о восьми лучах».
