V system

V system, eller V operating system, er et tidligere mikrokjernebasert distribuert operativsystem som ble utviklet av studenter og ansatte ved Distributed Systems Group ved Stanford University i perioden 1981−1988.

Prosjektet ble ledet av professor David R. Cheriton, som tidligere hadde arbeidet med å utvikle operativsystemene Thoth og Verax.

V system ble brukt til forskning på grafiske brukergrensesnitt. Vindussystemet W ble brukt av operativsystemet, og fikk sitt navn fra det.
