The Stone Coyotes er et amerikansk band som spiller rock, de ga ut sitt debutalbum i 1998. De kommer fra Massachusetts, men turnerer først og fremst i Texas, da det er her de har flest fans og har fått mest spilletid hos radiokanalene.

Barbara Keith begynte sin karriere i Greenwich Village, hun fikk spille inn noen av sangene sine hos Warner Brothers. Sangene har senere blitt innspilt av forskjellige artister som Tanya Tucker, Barbra Streisand, The Dillards, Melanie, Hank Snow, Lowell George og Patty Loveless.

I 1998 grunnla Barbara Keith familiebandet The Stone Coyotes sammen mannen Doug Tibbles og John Tibbles som er hans sønn, hennes stesønn. Keith er gitaristen og vokalisten i bandet og hun skriver de fleste av sangene deres. Hennes mann begynte å spille trommer kort før trioen ble dannet og Keith fikk kontrakt med Warner Brothers. Sønnen John lærte å spille bassgitar da han var elleve år og begynte å spille i bandet da han var atten. På konserter i nyere tid (2021) har også hans andre sønn Doug Jr. vært med å spilt gitar.

Bandet spiller en musikk som er innenfor rock, garasjerock og countryrock.

Nylig tillegg til Coyote-serien: Doug Tibbles, Jr. spiller hovedgitar sammen med broren John. Bandets siste utgivelse er "Live at the Shea Theatre". En ny EP er i arbeid for utgivelse snart.

Doug Tibbles er fra Los Angeles og var TV-skribent for show som The Munsters, Bewitched, Andy Griffith og mange flere, før han sa opp jobben og begynte å spille trommer. Barbara Keith var en stor inspirasjon til romanen Be Cool, en kriminalroman skrevet av Elmore Leonard, spesielt dens plot. Romanen ble utgitt i 1999 og er en oppfølgeren til Get Shorty (1990). Be Cool ble filmet i 2005, med blant annet John Travolta og Uma Thurman, med Aerosmith og Wyclef Jean i mindre roller. Sangen «Odessa» ble skrevet til boka, og fem av sangene hennes er nevnt i boken. Leonard og bandet opptrådde sammen rundt om i landet med en Words and Music Tour.[1] Musikken deres er mye benyttet som lydspor i forskjellige filmer, inkludert D3: The Mighty Ducks, Drillbit Taylor og Lawless Range, samt 9 episoder av Dog the Bounty Hunter.
