The MacArthur Fellows Program

The MacArthur Fellows Program eller MacArthur Fellowship er en personrettet finansiell støtteordning med store tildelinger hvert år fra John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation. Tildelingene skjer til mellom 20 og 40 amerikanere eller personer bosatt i USA, i alle aldre og som virker innen alle slags felt. Det skal være personer som «show exceptional merit and promise for continued and enhanced creative work.» Beløpet er (per 2008) på 500 000 dollar, og utbetales i rater hvert kvartal i fem år. Frem til 2007 hadde stiftelsen utdelt mer enn 350 millioner dollar; ikke som belønning, men som spore til fortsatt kreativt og innovativt virke.

Man kan ikke sende inn søknader, men folk nomineres anonymt og nominasjonene behandles av en anonym komité. Hele prosessen er konfidensiell.
