Innspillingen fant sted 9. august 1995 under bandets opptreden i TV-programmet MTV Unplugged og regnes blant Kiss-fans som starten på gjenforeningen av originalbesetningen.
Paul Stanley og Gene Simmons tok kontakt med de tidligere medlemmene Peter Criss og Ace Frehley og inviterte dem med på opptredenen. Dette er eneste gangen de fire originalmedlemmene spiller sammen uten sminke.
