Irbestredet

Irbestredet (på engelsk kjent som Irbe Strait^[1] og Irben Strait,^[2] svensk Svorbesundet,^[3] estisk: Kura kurk,^[4] latvisk: Irbes jūras šaurums^[5]) er den sentrale sjøveis ferdselsveien ut fra Rigabukten,^[6]^[7] mellom Sõrvehalvøya på Saaremaa og Kurlandhalvøya og ut i Østersjøen.

Irbestredet er 27 km bredt på det smaleste. Mer enn 14 000 sjøminer fra første verdenskrig og andre verdenskrig ligger fremdeles i Irbestredet.^[8]
