George Santayana
George Santayana (født Jorge Agustín Nicolás Ruiz de Santayana y Borrás 16. desember 1863 i Madrid, død 26. september 1952 i Roma) var en spansk filosof, poet, professor og forfatter.

Han vokste opp og utdannet seg i USA, og så på seg selv som amerikaner, men beholdt sitt spanske statsborgerskap hele livet. Som 48 åring forlot han stillingen sin som professor på Harvard University og reiste til Europa, for å ikke returnere igjen.
Santayana er kjent for sine utsagn: «Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it» (De som ikke kan huske historien er dømt til å gjenta den) og «Only the dead have seen the end of war» (Kun de døde har sett slutten på krigen)
