Border Gateway Protocol

Border Gateway Protocol (BGP) er en rutingprotokoll som blant annet benyttes i kjernen av Internett. Rent funksjonelt så setter den opp en tabell over IP-nettverk eller «prefixer» som spesifiserer nåbarheten mellom autonome systemer (AS). Protokollen er beskrevet som en path vector-protokoll. BGP bruker ikke vanlige IGP-verdier, men benytter trafikkbaner, nettverkspolitikk og/eller regelsett.
