Alexander Countys totale areal er 654 km² hvorav 42 km² er vann. I 2010 hadde fylket 8 238 innbyggere[2] og administrasjonssenteret ligger i byen Cairo.[2]
Fylket ble etablert i 4. mars 1819[1] og har fått sitt navn etter USAs sjuende president Andrew Jackson. Høyden over havet for Alexander County er beregnet til 117 meter.[1]
